Finalist - 2025 Muswellbrook Art Prize

I’m thrilled to share that my ceramic sculpture Good Day Majesty has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Muswellbrook Art Prize (Ceramic) This marks my second time as a finalist, following Macan II in 2023, which was acquired for their permanent collection. It’s an incredible honor to have my work recognized again, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of this prestigious award.

A huge congratulations to all the finalists—I can’t wait to see everyone’s incredible works in the exhibition!

The Artwork

G’day Your Majesty! (2025)
2025ceramic, glazed earthenware, gold lustre
28 x 20 x 20 cm

This ceramic vase captures a pivotal moment in Australian history through hand-painted scenes from Queen Elizabeth’s 1954 Royal Tour, redrawn from archival photographs. Inspired by vintage Australian magazines, the artist, an Indonesian immigrant, explores national identity through ceramics. The vase becomes a storytelling medium, juxtaposing colonial history with a migrant’s perspective, inviting reflection on Australia’s evolving identity through memory, culture, and transformation.
