Finalist - Feel Good Art Prize 2025
The conception of the feel good ART PRIZE drew inspiration from Tamara Mount’s monthly Feel-Good Friday Talks in Tadworth, London, which commenced in 2021. These talks aim to empower individuals to become the best version of themselves, contributing to help the community become an even healthier and happier place. Witnessing the positive impact of the Feel-Good Friday Talks, I pondered the possibility of adapting a similar “feel-good” movement to assist Australians post-COVID and amid lockdown challenges. This led to the idea of establishing a feel good ART PRIZE as a means of benefiting the entire community.
The inception of the feel good ART PRIZE initiative occurred in September 2022, coinciding with my appointment as the manager of Quadrant Gallery. Tasked with the reopening of the gallery after a two-year closure, I recognised a unique opportunity for visual artists to showcase and share feel-good artworks to the community—a significant chance for positive change.
The essence and concept of Quadrant Gallery lies in the fusion of architecture and art, elevating both spaces and lives. Art possesses the transformative ability to subtly alter surroundings, serving as an influential force capable of temporarily shifting one’s current state or creating a lasting impact. It is an integral part to the connectivity of the human spirit.
The primary objective of the feel good ART PRIZE is to benefit the entire community. For artists, it provides an opportunity to reflect on and revisit a feel-good moment, capturing and sharing it through their artwork. The purpose of these artworks is to convey and exchange positive emotions, aiming to uplift viewers and create a connection with those feelings.
The significance of art lies in its ability to impact those who see it, potentially changing their minds or uplifting their spirits. The 2023 feel good ART PRIZE achieved resounding success, and our commitment to delivering this much-needed concept remains steadfast.
We are grateful for the $5000 generously sponsored by Quadrant Design Architects for the Prize Winner and to Art Stretches Clifton Hill for the $250 Directors Choice Award. Our esteemed judging panel for the 2024 feel good ART PRIZE includes Corbett Lyon, a leading Australian architect and founder of the Lyon Housemuseum, along with Dr. Damian Smith, curator and art critic.
Everyone possesses the ability to find joy and transform ordinary moments into something extraordinary. Art plays a crucial role in society by engaging with current issues and influencing perspectives and actions. It has the power to change the world, even if it exists on a small 20x20cm art piece.
We invite artists to submit a small “feel-good” artwork measuring up to 20x20x20cm, as we believe it’s the small things that matter, contributing to the improvement of various aspects of our lives and, in turn, making our community an even healthier and happier place.
